Cholesterol Skydiving! What’s the Difference Between Parachutes and Rigging?

In the early years of skydiving the selection of a proper parachute was very important. The fabric used on parachutes was originally a heavy wool material. It was very difficult to make a parachute fabric that would float correctly when skydiving, and people had to be very precise about how much weight they could add onto the parachute to make it float properly. Eventually, the nylon material used on parachutes was introduced, and it proved to be much easier to make a parachute fabric float correctly. In the 1980s, a new type of parachute was introduced for skydiving called the neoprene/spandex combination.

A modern skydive rig is made up of several different materials. The parachute is of course the most important component of a successful skydive. Other accessories can include harnesses, floats, chutes, landing gear and other gear. This will depend on the particular form of skydiving that is being done.

Tips To Buy Parachutes

When you buy your parachutes, you need to pay very close attention to what is included in the package. Many companies will include a spare parachute, but other companies will sell the complete parachute package, which usually includes the parachute, the two harnesses (one for the primary rope system and one for the secondary system) and the landing gear. If you choose to buy your own boots, you may also be able to select a specific type of boot to use with your parachute. It is a good idea to check with the company that you are buying your equipment from to make sure that the specific type of boots that you are buying will work correctly.

Another vital piece of equipment that is needed for skydiving is the parachute itself. There are two types of parachutes to choose from. The first kind is the single parachute rig. This is the traditional type of parachute that many people are familiar with. The parachute rig consists of two pieces – the parachute itself and a harness. It is the parachute itself that distributes the resistance, allowing the diver to glide smoothly through the air towards their landing spot.

The second type of parachute rig is the tandem jump parachute rig, which provides a more flexible method of allowing a skydiver to ascend and descend safely during a dive. The tandem jump parachute rig consists of a canopy with two pieces, or sections, that are connected by a series of ropes. One piece drapes over the wearer’s chute and another piece is attached to the other piece. These two pieces then act as a support structure for the chute.

Difference Between A Tandem Jump And Basic

The difference between a tandem jump and a basic one lies in how the chute is deployed. With a tandem parachute rig, when a diver jumps out of the plane, he is hanging his chute by one leg – thus making him have a much shorter distance to fall before he is fully expanded. On the other hand, basic skydiving methods do not employ the use of a parachute at all, but rather use parachute strings. A string is tied to the chute, pulling it down to the base of the diver’s feet.

Weight String Drags

When the diver pulls the string, a thin piece of metal called a weight string drags the chute to the descent point. This point is where the parachute is deployed by the diver, sliding down the string. The weight strings used in this method can be very thin, allowing the chute to come down just a few inches from the diver’s feet. They are sometimes complemented by a secondary parachute, which comes down next to the chute. The secondary parachute is used to slow the descent of the parachute so that it doesn’t cause too much deformation of the body.

Conclusion

parachute rigs are an indispensable part of skydiving gear. In fact, if a skydive instructor were to not use them, many students would not take out a second thought about skydiving. Without proper use of parachute rigs, skydiving could turn into a very unpleasant experience. Many instructors make it a point to have a good supply of jump suits and jumpmaster training equipment on hand, as these essentials will definitely be needed.
